Round North Island Yacht Race 2011, The Wellington Start

Round North Island Yacht Race 2011, The Wellington Start
The day dawned with 40 - 50 knots blowing in Wellington, a cross Harbour ferry having the windows smashed by a huge wave required rescue for 40 passengers.
Understandably the race start was delayed until 4.45 when the wind was 30 - 35 knots gusting 40. The fleet got away on the back of the front and were sailing into much less wind that they left in.
The fleet are now bound for Napier 180 miles away.
The smoke haze in the video is actually salt spray and the vibration is the wind loading on the camera. and tripod.
