Alex Thomson Racing have announced an exciting new partnership with Opihr Gin, the world's fastest-growing premium gin as the gin brand aims to inspire consumers worldwide to embrace the Spirit of Adventure.

Mike Salmon, Chief Marketing Officer for Quintessential Brands, said;

"Maritime adventure and discovery is at the very heart of Opihr and if anyone personifies the brand's Spirit of Adventure, it's got to be Alex Thomson. We're thrilled to be supporting him as he prepares for his next big solo race and we're delighted to be working with him to bring Opihr's Spirit of Adventure to life for a wider audience in the years ahead."

Speaking of the new partnership Alex had this to say...

"I am really excited to partner with Opihr Gin as there is a strong connection of adventure between Opihr, inspired by the Ancient Spice Route, and my sport of extreme offshore sailing - both of which journey through the oceans. I am looking forward to working with Opihr, a successful and ambitious brand and together, we want to encourage people across the world to challenge themselves and embrace adventure!"

Alex has been awarded Yachtsman of the Year by the Yachting Journalists Association and also Pro Sailor of the Year by Yachts and Yachting Magazine, both in recognition of his success in 2016/17 Vendee Globe where he finished in 2nd place and broke a new world record.

Alex is pictured above with the inspiring Montel Fagan-Jordan of Greig City Academy who won Young Sailor of the Year for his offshore campaign in the Fastnet and sailing achievements onboard Scaramouche.

Looking forward to 2018...

The boat is currently undergoing a refit in Gosport, ahead of a busy year on the water where the team will sail her to the USA for sponsor activation ahead of preparing for the Route du Rhum in St Malo in November. This is the first time Alex will compete in the single-handed transatlantic race to Guadeloupe.
