Al Marri Teams Up with Manuzzi For Abu Dhabi and Dubai Class One Powerboat Racing
Dubai's Victory Team has announced that they will field a third boat, rolling out their second new design-build of the year, for the remaining Grands Prix of the season, with Class 1 great Mohammed Al Marri teaming-up with Giorgio Manuzzi in Victory 2010 for the Middle East legs of the Championship in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Double World Champion Al Marri, thirteen times a race winner, partnered Abdullah Al Mehairbi at the beginning of the year in Fazza 1, taking podiums in Brazil and Norway before stepping aside for Talib Al Sayed, marks his returns with a 70th Grand Prix start in Abu Dhabi.
Al Marri made his Class 1 debut in 2000, finishing runner-up in the title race - a feat he also achieved in 2005 and 2006 - taking his first World Championship in 2001.
He stepped back from competitive racing at the end of 2006, but made a spectacular return in 2008 to replace the injured Arif Al Zafeen, going on to triple Championship success, winning his second World and Middle East titles, also picking up the Edox Pole Position Championship.
Italian Giorgio Manuzzi, like Al Marri, is also making a welcome return to racing after missing the Swedish and Italian Grands Prix. He kicked-off the season alongside Marit Stromoy in Welmax Alianza, switching camps to race with Giovanni Carpitella in Norway in Victory Team's first new design of the season, Spirit of Dubai, finishing on the podium in both races.
Manuzzi made his Class 1 debut at the Egyptian Grand Prix in Porto Marina in 2007, running a first full season in 2008 and taking his first podium in the Mina Seyahi Grand Prix. His next three podiums came in Arendal in 2009 - alongside Maritimo's Peter McGrath – and this year.
