I have looked at the pics of the boat digging in and wow, how would you even have time to respond to that kind of situation, I sail trimaran's have even jumped a 32 foot boat out of the top of a wave (accidently) but I think that 61 knots is too fast for the technology, looks like hell fun tho! How do they place the ama's in the foilers? In the old days the ama's were supposed to be level with the main hull bow, and they had fairly full bows (gives much +ve bouyancy) this prevents... I am not normally superstitious but one thing I am always wary of is the renaming of a boat with little consideration for tradition or history. There seem to be a lot of different theories about the ceremony or routine that should be followed when renaming a boat. The correct method would be to use a tinted and thickened polyester resin filler to fill first then block and spray the gelcoat o... Read More
I have found that folding plywood dinghys are more robust than poly ones, I have recently owned both variety's and once you drag the poly ones over a beach or two, you will see the difference, my ply boat is still great after 20 years but the poly one is damaged after 2. They sail better as well due to the increased rigidity of the plywood, the only disadvantage is the varnishing with poly there is none needed! ... Read More
