British female skiing sensation, Chemmy Alcott, could well be swapping her poles for the thrills and spills of powerboat racing in Penzance in May after admitting an "extremely cool" introduction to the sport in Southampton has captured her interest.

Desperately struggling for sponsorship to fund her push for gold in Sochi, Russia, in 2014, the UK Winter Olympic star declared that she could be persuaded to join Britain's best powerboat pilots in 2010's, Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship.

Joining famous faces from the British motorsports circuit, as well as the current crop of SuperStock Championship pilots for Powerboat P1's exclusive experience day last week, Alcott slipped into her overalls for an adrenaline-fuelled high octane ride in one of the UK's most exciting new motorsport series' 300 Class powerboats. She said: "The sensation was not a million miles away from racing down a ski slope. It was a similar mental dislodgement, just me against the world, and I love any sport with an adrenaline rush. I instantly felt like telling Neil Holmes, our driver, to push the powerboat to the limit.

"I was really surprised by the delicate manoeuvring of the boat and I was only sitting in the navigator's seat."If you got me behind the wheel of a 300 Class boat, I'd be lethal. I always go too fast for my ability. I'm a big surfer but I do get scared by the power of the ocean. The snow is very different but the thrill was amazing. I don't know how confident I'd be trusting in someone else and nature's cause. Let's just say it was a good test of my waterproof mascara."

The 2010 Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship begins at the Penzance Grand Prix of the Sea on May 21-23.
