The new Doosan Offshore Powerboat Boat leaves the shed.

Cary Gleeson was a happy man this afternoon as he watched his new raceboat inched carefully out of Steve Pennington's shed after a complete rebuild.

Doosan out of the Shed

Though still in need of  interior work, engines and stunning graphics, it was easy to see why Cary and his co-driver Sam would be excited about heading into the 2010 season with a bigger and more powerful boat after seeing her emerge from the shed. Steve Pennington and his team have done a fantastic job of preparing the boat for another full on season of racing. Last years decals have been removed, and the hull painted and prepared for it's new sponsors Doosan.

The boat is a 34 ft Phantom with 2 x 525 MerCruiser EFI engines. She was designed by Brett Bakewell-White in Auckland and was built for the 2007 NZ Offshore Powerboat Season and won the NZ Championship in 2007 and 2008 as Sleepyhead.

With rebuilt engines and a completely new fitout including the latest cockpit equipment Doosan will be more than ready to build a reputation of success in the 2010 season when it starts in Taupo on the 31st January.
