Karma Police, the first carbon composite race boat built at Unitec based on the design of Marine Technology lecturer Rob Shaw, will see action again in the biggest race in New Zealand over the Labour Day weekend. After storming into the semi finals on the back of a strong second round robin we lost a bit of momentum when the conditions switched to a bit of a lottery. However, Gilmour and his team took their chances well to beat us in the semi final. Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) also won their semi final and went on to win the final. Over the past few days the Aon Racing team have been competing in the Asian Match Race Championships in Malaysia. This regatta is the only qualifier to the most prestigious event in the match racing scene, the Monsoon Cup, which is the final regatta in the World Match Racing tour. Aon racing has arrived in Bermuda to compete in the Argo Gold Cup, a World Tour Event. The competition will be raced in IOD class yachts, a 33 foot classic sloop that was popular before the Second World War.
